Southwest Asian and North African Literatures Network

About

The Southwest Asian and North African Literatures Network (SWANA Lit Network) is a newly launched platform that aims to bring together researchers and creatives with a shared interest in the literatures and cultures of Southwest Asia and North Africa and their diasporas. Founded in 2025 at Utrecht University by Dr. Müge Özoğlu and Dr. Merve Tabur, the network is envisioned as a collaborative and interdisciplinary community that welcomes scholars, writers, artists, and cultural practitioners based in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

Through meetings, workshops, and other cultural activities, the network aims to create opportunities for interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, creative practice, and collective exploration of SWANA literatures and cultures in both academic and public settings.

We believe that the intersection of scholarly research and creative practice is vital to understanding and amplifying the diverse literary voices emerging from SWANA. We invite all those committed to this shared mission to join us.
